WarnerDespite setting a huge target, Beechwood were just unable to secure a win against Carshalton Athletic in a timed-game at Otford.

Captain Freeman won the toss and electing to bat first, and it took a spectacular century from Adrian Warner (108*) and a 168 run fifth-wicket partnership with Larry Culhane (52) to mark a superb recovery  for the hosts after they were staring down both barrels at 56 for 4 against a very useful Carshalton attack.   The partnership ensured that Beechwood posted an extremely competitive 224 for 5 from just under 40 overs.

In reply, and in true Carshalton tradition, the visitors pushed for victory all the way with some heavy hitting, but four wickets apiece from Scott Garnett (4 for 43) and Chris Savory (4 for 54) and a run out saw Carshalton defending for their lives at the end, nine wickets down and many runs adrift.

But defend they did valiantly and helped by some "Tefal moments" from the Beechwood fielders held out for an entertaining draw.
