Beechwood ended their 2015 season with a very enjoyable game of cricket against old friends Fordcombe.

Fordcombe won the toss and invited the hosts to make first use of the facilities, and the top three of Morris (36), McLachlan (45) and Cartwright (29) all got good scores and laid a solid foundation. However the middle order didn't manage to capitalise on this and had a bit of a collapse before Ian McCrea once again stepped in to rescue the innings with an excellent 33 not out to cap another fine season with bat and ball. Beechwood got to tea on 189 for 6, with Chris Savory excelling as the stand-in tea lady - thanks Chris!

In reply Fordcombe never really threatened to chase the total down and wickets fell at regular intervals, but John Keeler (42*) steadied the ship and ensured the visitors came away with the draw. The champagne moment came when Captain Freeman was persuaded to bowl at the end and got an LBW decision ("completely plum" was AJF's assessment) and by doing so managed to finish top of Beechwood's bowling averages for the season!

Good work Tony, and a big thank you for skippering this year, which hasn't always been easy, but hopefully at times, personally rewarding.
