The sun turned up but ambition stayed at homePDFPrintE-mail

The September sun shone on Otford but unfortunately could not illuminate Beechwood's game against Old Pilotonians which fizzled out into a tame draw.

The visitors won the toss and batted on an unresponsive track, with the top five all making good scores. They got to tea with 242 for 6 on the board, but credit should go to the host's bowling and fielding, as heads never went down and the effort level remained high.

After tea it was felt that the total was never really achieveable in an hour and twenty overs, and instead the majority of the top six tried to make use of time at the crease, whilst everyone else enjoyed catching a few rays and finishing off the Harvey's that Ian Burgess had kindly brought along.

Beechwood finished 115 runs behind but were never in danger of losing either.

Just one of those games unfortunately, though it was good to see our Old Pilotonian friends once again, and hopefully next year we can all work a little harder at producing a more exciting match.
