Despite an overwhelming gulf in class between Beechwood and visitors Gore Court, the hosts managed to come away from the game with a respectable draw. Gore Court, a club rich in resources, agreed to bat first and were initially stiffled by the four Beechwood seamers. However, the spin-twins were not so fortunate and were put to the sword with the ball disappearing to all parts of the bounday. The visitors posted a daunting 272 for 3 at tea.

With a total completely out of reach for the hosts, it was all about batting for pride and giving a good account of ourselves, and this was pleasingly achieved. Pick of the batsmen was Bradley Hill continuing his excellent run of form with a knock of 75 not out. In the end Beechwood finished on 171 for 4, over a hundred runs short of the target, but everyone who batted contributed and should hold us in good stead for the fixtures ahead.

A special mention must also go out to Gore Court, who, although being many levels above us in terms of quality and talent, never disrespected or belittled us, and played the game in good spirit. We wish them well for the rest of the season.
