Beechwood won their latest home game against Brasted Invicta by six wickets at Otford.

On a gorgeous summer's day, which have been few and far between so far this season, the visitors won the toss and decided that they would make first use of a very batsmen-friendly pitch. Opening bowlers Morris and Pogose toiled away without success, but their efforts did ensure the run rate was surpressed at a managable level. On came the spinners and continued to ensure the runs didn't flow at an alarming rate, with Chris Savory taking three wickets. At tea, Brasted Invicta set the hosts a target of 154.

After losing Keith Makin for a duck, Fraser Morris (31) and Russell Cartwright (66*) got down to business, but once Morris was clean bowled there were a few nerves in the Beechwood camp with the dismissal of their most destructive batsman. However, Cartwright took up the mantle, assisted by cricket newcomer John Catterson (21) who delighted his watching team mates with some glorious boundaries.

In the end, Beechwood got over the line in just over 29 overs, but that didn't tell the whole story, as Brasted were guilty of a number of dropped catches, which, if held, would have certainly changed the nature of the run-chase. All in all a great day against our friends at Brasted, and everyone enjoyed the post-match drinks together in the pub garden afterwards, reminding us what a pleasure it is to play Sunday cricket sometimes.
