Beechwood narrowly lost to Speldhurst by 12 runs on a tricky pitch at Otford.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, and the new ball attack of Morris (3/15) and Pogose (1/48) gave them a lot of problems, with Speldhurst 64 for 5 at one stage.  The fielding was excellent and inspired by stand-in captain Keith Makin's stunning catch at mid-off. However, the middle/late order battled on and finally finished on 149 for 9 at tea.

In reply, Beechwood matched the run rate required, but were losing wickets too frequently as well - Hill, Burgess and Pogose all top-scored with 23 runs, and the visitors broke the host's resistance with just eight balls remaining and 12 runs short as McCrea was clean bowled.

An excellent game of cricket against a very friendly side, and we hope to see them again in the 2015 season.
