A beautiful sunny day at Otford, a full eleven raring to go and the opportunity to bat first. What could possibly go wrong?  The answer: Everything.  It was a day to forget for the majority of Beechwood's batsmen as we somehow managed to implode from 62 for 1 to 87 all out.  The only notable contributions were from Adrian Warner (25) and Hamish McLachlan (28) as the St Mary's leg-spinner McMenanin tore through our middle order finishing with figures of 5 for 12.  The game was effectively over at tea, as we knew the Orchard Field pitch was as flat as previous weeks.

To be fair Beechwood toiled hard in the field and spirits were good throughout with stand-in captain Larry Culhane marshalling the troops well, but St Mary's, despite a couple of blips, reached the target quite efficiently in just 18.5 overs.  Still, the sun shone long into the evening and we made full use of The Crown's pub garden to drink away our woes.
