Beechwood got their first win of the season with an 87 run victory over Penshurst Park in a 40-over match at Orchard Field.

All of last week's batting woes were a distant memory as the home team plundered their way to an impressive 251 for 3, which included a 127 run second wicket partnership between Fraser Morris (75) and Hamish McLachlan (94*).  Bradley Hill (34*) also joined in the fun with some powerful hits including a fantastic straight six.

Chasing down a large total was always going to be difficult, but Penshurst Park made a remarkable start, with their star South African opener Michael Koster (35) dispatching fours all round the ground, and when he was dropped relatively early on, the feeling was it could be a tricky afternoon for Beechwood.  But Scott Garnett (2/36) had other ideas and managed to clean bowl Koster just as he was looking extremely dangerous.  The wickets fell regularly after that and all the Beechwood bowlers managed to contribute, with Ian McCrea taking 3 for 41 and removing the middle order.

Highlight of the day was probably Rob Pogose holding on to a steepling catch to remove Graham Nicholls (59) who batted very well up until then.
