Despite some all too familiar summer showers, the game between Beechwood and Nuxley still provided a nail-biting finish, as the visitors held out for a valiant draw.

After winning the toss and batting first, Beechwood's openers Morris and Warner who had to face the new ball on a wet and seaming pitch, aChris in his pantsChris Savory, 7 for 46, relaxing in his pants and hats well as having to start twice due to another lengthy rain interruption and an early tea.

It was the Kiwi partnership of Morris and McLachlan who put Beechwood in a good position however, both falling short of well-deserved half-centuries scoring 44 and 43 respectively, with Larry Culhane finding some form with the bat once more managing an excellent 27 not out.  Captain Freeman declared on 141 for 6, and gave Nuxley virtually an hour and 20 overs to chase this target.

In reply, the visitors started well, and it wasn't until the introduction of the spin-attack of Savory and Gramopadhye that Nuxley's run chase was curtailed.   On a difficult and drying pitch Savory's leg-spin was almost unplayable at times, as the veteran returned with the fantastic figures of 15 overs, 3 maidens and most importantly 7 wickets for 46 runs.

In the end however the Nuxley rearguard action proved too resilient for Beechwood, and the game finished in a commendable draw, with Nuxley totalling 105 for 8.
