On a dreadfully dismal and wet June afternoon, Beechwood once again came so close to a fine victory, but again were unable to remove the final pair at the crease.

Le-Roux: 4 for 1Le-Roux: 4 for 1After taking an early tea due to the rain, it was Beechwood who batted first, and it was the Kiwis who stole the show with the bat, Fraser Morris scoring a fantastic 114 not out, with fellow countryman Hamish McLachlan supporting him with 58 runs.   After 30 overs, the hosts declared on a mammoth 204 for 2.

In reply, it was a South African and an Indian who did the majority of the damage; Darren Le-Roux, playing his first match of the season recording ridiculous figures of 9 overs, 8 maidens and 4 wickets, and a fine spell from Onkar Gramopadhye (2/6) pushed Beechwood to the brink of victory, but the old guard rearguard of Carter and Payne ensured a draw was achieved by our friendliest of rivals, finishing on 59 for 9.

The best achievement of the day though must go to all 22 players for somehow managing to get a decent game of cricket in despite the awful conditions.
